I'll be the first to admit we seriously considered keeping this rare find! Instead, we've settled for giving it a good cleaning and new life before sending it off to its next adventure.
This is an authentic civil war era snuff-box from 1860 and for the age is in remarkable shape. The illustration on the cover remains very clear with slight rubbing on the soldier's leg and a tiny ding to his right (you are encoraged to come up with your own story for that mark - from stopping a knife to an errant musketball!). The side features the date Jan 24, 1860 and the name C. Parker along with a single star. The bottom has some light scuffing. May we all look that good at 160 years old!
The newly sewn carrying pouch is made from a pack and flap of 7 ounce polished black leather that has been stamped with the VWC logo and a fleur-de-lis. The front of the pouch is made from brown waxed canvas and has a brass snap closure. A belt loop on the back of the pouch will make it easy to keep this little keepsake close and useful.
